In 2021 Batchelor Press collaborated with Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi to publish a suite of Kaurna language resources for early learners of the language. Featured are two word books (Piipawardli Kuungka: Inside my School, and Ngaityu Mudlirna: My Things) and a story book Yantupina (The Outsider). The word books are also accompanied by an A2-sized illustrated word list poster (optional) based on the two-page word list spread in these books.
Project-managed by Labhaoise Upton and with involvement from Jack Buckskin, Nakia Ellis, Shane Mankitya Cook and Rob Amery, the educational charm of these resources is heightened with original illustrations by children from the Kaurna community and students from Keller Road Primary School, Salisbury East High School, and Craigmore South Primary School, Adelaide. The project was made possible with funding by the South Australian Department for Education.
The Kaurna language resources (3 books @$10 each) may be purchased from Kuma Kaaru, c/- Jack Buckskin, email: Kumakaaru@outlook.com; m: 0416 050 546
